Physician billing for Inpatient Surgery

  1. Default Physician billing for Inpatient Surgery

Are you supposed to bill for E&M (99221 etc) when they do a surgery or is that considered part of the surgical package?

  2. #2
If the 99221 was the decision for surgery, then you can bill it with a modifier 57. Otherwise, DO NOT bill because it is part of the global surgical package.

    Thank you for your help.
