ASC Billing

  1. Default ASC Billing
    New Call-to-action
I'm revving up to start billing for an ASC. They will not be certified for Medicare, but all others. I know basics about billing with the SG modifier and POS 24. The only thing I'm not sure about is if the surgeon does a visit in the ASC, do I bill a visit code with the SG modifier or are facility charges just for surgical procedures? Also, do I list the surgeon in box 31 of the HCFA? Thanks for any help!!

  2. Red face Asc
when we billed for our GI endo rooms as an ASC the facility was the one being paid not the doctor so his name was not in box 31. If the doctor can't do the procedure say the BP was elevated patient had chest pain the doctor had to review and perform care for that patent we did bill an office visit. As long as the doctor does a visit note for that situation you have the documentation to support why a visit was billed.

    Good luck hope this helps

Thank you! So if you don't put the doctor's name in box 31, what do you use?
