When to start fracture care?

  1. Default When to start fracture care?
    Medical Coding Books
I have a patient that was seen in our ED for poss fx. Patient was put in a splint for his fx and told to follow up in the clinic. Patient is evaluated and it is decided to leave him in the splint until the swelling goes done. The patient is told to come back in four more days for casting. Would I wait and start the fx care on the casting day or would it start on the day of the first evaluation?

Default When is the fracture treated
It would dependon the documentation. I would think that you would not bill fracture care until the treatment for the fracture was actually rendered. Sounds like that may be "after the swelling goes down."

You might get a better response if you post this in the right place ...
You have it under LOCAL CHAPTERS / General Discussion. You want to be under MEDICAL CODING / Orthopedics or MEDICAL CODING / General Discussion.
