Can anyone give me som suggestions on coding books for op reports for ortho? A book that defines what have to be done in order to bill, so if they miss a step we could show them what all is involved with coding certain procedures?

I use the Coding Companions and Code Pathways, they don't necessarily tell you how to bill, but it does give you examples and situations that could be helpful when your looking for something. I get mine through Ingenix, I believe you can go on the website and get a sample of what the book offers, also Encoder pro expert is a good software Ingenix offers as well.
    Hope that helps a little.

The Coders Desk Reference is always good to have on hand as well as the Orthopaedic Expert [A procedural coding companion] - these are both Ingenix publications. The Coders Desk Reference covers all codes while the Orthopaedic Expert just covers ortho.
