Ingrown toenail treatment?

    Default Ingrown toenail treatment?
    Exam Training Packages
Not sure if this is a 11720 or how to code, here is a portion of the note pertaining to the procedure:

presents for follow-up of antibiotic therapy for ingrown toenail. Does not hurt anymore, is now peeling all around the end of the toe.

    Objective findings:
Great toe with dried peeled skin around the distal phalanx. Some dead granulomatous tissue along medial aspect of the nail, also thin jagged nail into corner. Forceps and sharp scissors used to debride granulomatous tissue, also scissors used to trim and excise corner of distal nail which was ingrowing. Did not use digital block and so did not excise all the way to the nail bed.

Under assessment doctor states Ingrown Nail 703.0 then states scissors and forceps for nail debridement, medial excision of distal corner without numbing.

    Any comments or coding suggestions?

Check CPT 11765 - it includes the exam & trimming of the ingrown nail.

    Hope this helps!
