I have a patient that delivered on 5-11-09 and is know coming in for her postpartum check on 7-31-09. Is this still global care. No pap was preformed she wants to come back at a later time for this.

Use a -24 and be sure doccumentation is not includied in the prenatal/postpartum record.

The global is 90 days, so 07/31/09 is still within the global period. If she did have a pap done on 07/31/09 you can bill Q0091 with mod 79.

Global days for maternity codes are "MMM" not 90 days. Any care related to the pregnancy and delivery are considered included in the delivery fee regardless of when it occurs. Any visit that is non-related to the pregnancy/delivery would be filed without a pregnancy/delivery diagnosis code and should be reimbursed by insurance. If they deny it, the visit can be appealed.
