    Default coding diabetes

    AAPC: Back to School
    if assessment has DMII, and DMII Neuropathy, would you code both DMII?

    When coding diabetes with complication you do not also code the diabetes without complication code. You can have as many diabetes with complications as indicated by documentation. In other words once you have a 250.10 or 250.20 0r 250.30 etc... then you do not code a 250.00 on the same encounter.
