    Question Acute headache

    AAPC: Back to School
For a diagnosis of acute headache would I code the headahe and 338.19 for acute pain?

    Thanks in advance.

338.__ is the section for Pain NOS. In this case the pain is specified as head pain, so all you should code is that IMO. The code is 784.0

If the document included other descriptors, you might be taken to the headache syndrome section (339) or the migrane section (346) etc
