Destruction of AK and SK's

  1. Default Destruction of AK and SK's
    Medical Coding Books
When a patient comes in and has ak and sk's removed by electrosurgery what codes are more appropriate? 17000-17003 or 17110?

If you are referring to Actinic (or Solar) Keratosis which are premalignant conditions, I would go with 17000, 17003 or 17004.

  4. Default ak/sk
Yes, that's what I was referring to. Thank you!

I agree with 17000 for Actinic Keratosis (AK). If SK were referring to Seborrheic Keratosis (702.19) I would use 17110 (benign) for destruction.
