Implants that were not implanted

Does anybody know if you are allowed to charge for implants if the surgeon tried to implant them but was not successful?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, I forgot to say that I was talking about orthopedic implants or spinal stimulator electrodes, not breast implants.

How can you bill out something that was never used? If dr did not implant them then how can you bill for implants?

If it was opened, and used, then came out to be the wrong size, or it broke or some other reason, cannot be used again. We send in the implant records and never had a problem.

But in this case it says tried to implant but was unsuccessful so technically was not used.
I just don't know how you can bill for something that was not used.

for implants that are not successfully placed and not reuseable (after sterilization of course) should not be reported to a carrier but written off as waste instead.
