AMA online learning opportunity regarding resequencing initiative for CPT codes
The American Medical Association will offer an online learning opportunity dealing with the resequencing initiative for CPT codes, regarding the non-numeric placement in a numeric code set. This will be held December 9, 2009, at 1:00 EST, 12:00 PM CST, 11:00 AM MST, 10:00 AM PST
60 minute Web conference, including a 15 minute question and answer period.
In an effort to meet the growing demands of health information technology (HIT), the American Medical Association has launched an initiative that alters the numeric sequence of standard terminology principles in the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) coding development and maintenance process. This initiative will be introduced with the publication of CPT® 2010.
After completing this activity, participants will have a better understanding of the new resequencing initiative and will have the answers they need to fully comprehend resequencing efforts in the CPT code set.
The following topics will be presented:
• HIT impact on CPT maintenance and development—background and rationale
• The essentials of the AMA's CPT code set
• Resequencing initiative—principles for development and examples
This educational program is intended for physicians, health information management (HIM) professionals, coding professionals, compliance educators, auditors and any other health care professional who utilizes the CPT code set.
