    Cool Patient not present

    AAPC: Back to School
I work in a family practice office and I was wondering how we bill for a family member that is coming in on behalf of a patient but the patient is not present? I thought that we use an e/m then the dx code V65.19 which states that a person is being seen on behalf of another person but I thought we had to bill under the person's insurance that is physically here to be seen because legally we can not bill for a patient that is not physically here and is unable to agree for financial responsibility for the visit. Please let me know. Thanks!
