    Default cms drops consult codes

    AAPC: Back to School
    Hello everyone we all know that CMS has dropped consult codes effective 1/1/2010 and this also holds true for medicaid correct? I am just trying to clarify for my DR's i told them that it includes medicaid pt's as well but i am just double checking. shelly

    Medicare only at this time

    Depends on the state. If the state's payment policy is based on CMS' payment policy then most likely they will not be recognizing the consult codes as well. Delaware is one of these states.

    Default CMS drops Medicare consults

    These may vary depending on your location, but this is the list of payors I have that are following in Medicare's foot steps.

    Traditional Medicare
    UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions
    Secure Horizons
    Medicare Advantage benefit plans
    Tiffany Fischer, CPC, CEMC

    Colorado State Medicaid is NOT following Medicare on the consultation coding at this time.

    Has anyone heard what Indiana and/or Kentucky Medicaid are doing?
