My doc is questioning if it is my job to determine class findings (Q mod) for a patient recieving footcare. In the CMS manual it states "the physician rendering the routine footcare has identified--class findings"

Are there any coders out there who making the decision themselves and applying the mod? My concern of course is, in the future it is questioned and my doc says "I never put a Q on there". I feel it is a Dr.'s responsibility to dx and determine co-morb.

I code for a podiatrist, and he chooses the class findings as he is seeing the patient. If the guidelines state that the doctor does the identifying, then I would follow that advice and let the doctor do it.

Our Podiatrist does this as well.
