I just need to know about e codes

    Exam Training Packages
    I just want to know how does e codes effect reimbursment when a pt comes in and has a injury. In our family practice we don't use any e codes for any injury. My boss told me we don't need to use it. To me i think we should and i believe it does make a difference in reimbursment.

    When you don't use them you have ALOT of add'l work and delay of claim. Usually the claim is being held for 'additional info' from patient.

    E codes define how/where the accident/injury occured and who is responsible for payment. Most claims are held for further information because the insurance company is deciding this, and including the E code and office notes on/with the original claim will get your reimbursement faster.
