Default Table of risk - If a provider starts a patient

    AAPC: Back to School
If a provider starts a patient on a new prescription, that increases the risk associated, does that increase the level of visit based on the table of risk, potentially?

Do not count on that to be true. risk is only one element of MDM and you must meet 2 out of the 3 elements to have a level of MDM. So if you have one dx and no complexity even though a prescription was given then this is straighforward MDM even though the risk is moderate. I see this kind of documentation all the time.
