    Question Thyroidectomies: Complete vs Total

    AAPC: Back to School
    Hello all,

I am a Coding student and even my Instructor cannot explain the difference (if any) between a Total and a Complete Thyroidectomy.
Thanks in advance to any who can clarify

Total and complete appear to mean the same thing...removal of the entire thyroid gland.

    Default Complete vs. Total

Total and Complete are the same just as Partial and Sub-Total are the same...it's just the way some medical professionals refer to the procedure.

Coding - the wonderful world of MUD.

    Have a great weekend,

    Default Thank You!!

Thanks, everyone for the info. It's great as a student to be able to pick the brains of those with experience in the industry. One last thing...
What is MUD an acronym for?
