Cool Screening UA is part of E/M ??

    AAPC: Back to School
Rogue doc does UA without any signs/symptoms. UA comes up normal. Is this something that can be billed as a screening or is this included in the E/M and should not be billed for? Thanks for your input.

a test is a test and if it was done, then it can be billed. first, though, i would send back the chart and query the doc as to why he chose to do a U/A and that you need a dx for it.

    Default U/A

Alot of physicians perform a U/A routinely during annual visits. They can be billed however if no symptoms or chronic conditions are present then the dx would have to be V70.0 and alot of carriers may not pay. (They may pay under preventative coverage)
