    Question EGD with FB removal

    AAPC: Back to School
I'm coding for an ASC. Patient was seen for follow-up of Reflux esophagitis and resolved dysphagia. During the procedure, in addition to some mild to moderate antral gastritis, a gastrostomy tube bumper was found and removed. No biopsies were taken. My question is, would I code for a diagnostic EGD (43235) or an EGD with FB removal (43247).

According to NCCI, CPT code 43247 should not be used for the removal of therapeutic devices like PEG tubes and stents. I would use 43235 w/o bx.

Thanks for responses...I have looked at the NCCI edits and agree with jgstanley, I'm going for the 43235. I appreciate the feedback!!
