    Default Dates of Service

    AAPC: Back to School
When a doctor is doing a H&P for a newborn and its filed the following day,
can you change the date to the day the newborn was actually born or do you strictly use whats documented? It looks as if there was no documentation for the first day of life.
    Thanks for your help!

The date that should be reported is the date that the provider actually evaluated the newborn.
