    AAPC: Back to School
    Can someone please tell me if it is correct to use 90801 for a IP visit that was requested by another Dr. normally we would have used a consultation code, but this pt is medicare.

    Yes, she saw the patient in the hospital.

    Since it is a psychiatrist, I would use the appropriate evaluation and management codes rather than the psych codes.
