    Hi there:

I've got an IVR note where the catheter and PTA and stent placement were all performed thru an existing indwelling infusion catheter.

Do I code the lower extremity vessel catheterization codes at all as the infusion catheter was in place prior to this encounter. I've searched the internet and couldn't find a similar scenario to get an answer.

    All replies are welcome.

    Thanks!

As intervention is done thro the existing catheter dont use catheter placement codes(36245 - 36248)

    Hi there:

Thanks for replying. Can you site a reference guide that supports the coding scenario?

Try Dr. Z's coding books or SIR coding manual.
