Acupuncture - An acupuncturist has billed

  1. Default Acupuncture - An acupuncturist has billed

An acupuncturist has billed for 97813 and 97811. The 97811 is for a second 15 minute increment without electrical stimulation. The insurance company has denied it stating that 97813 can be only billed 97814. However 97814 is with elect. stim and the acupuncturist did not provide elect stim during that 15 mins.
What are the correct codes for 15 mins with elect stim followed by 15 mins without?

97810 for 15 min without and 97814 for 15 min with. 97814 is an add on and must be used with 97810. If insurance wants you to use 97814 then this is the way I would go. Depends on what was done first, with or without?

  3. Default
The electrical stim was done first so 97813 was used then 97811
