Foreign Body Removal

    Question Foreign Body Removal

    If a patient comes in thinking they have a foreign body like a piece of glass or a splinter and the doctor makes an incision and explores the wound but nothing is found can you charge anything for this?

    I have encountered this before in my setting. Here is how we handled the situation. We used the appropriate code for the removal and appended modifier 52.

    Any other opinions?

    No other opinion - just confirming that we handle it the same way in our urgent care setting.
