We have a dr who performed an LHC on a patient but because he isn't licensed to perform an IVUS another dr did that procedure. However because we had to bill for both dr the claim split and the IVUS (which is an add-on code) went on a claim by itself. I am going to do a redetermation on the 92978 code but my question is would adding a modifier 62 help? Since this is considered a diagnostic procedure I am not sure that 62 would qualify.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Since 92978 is an add-on code, it won't be paid by itself. I don't believe that it qualifies for a modifier 62 either. My drs don't split LHC's so I'm not sure how that will work out but good luck with it!
