Conflicting Codes

  1. #1
    Default Conflicting Codes
    New Call-to-action
I have been answered several ways for this questions can someone clarify and give me where I can get documentation to back my answer.

    Operative reports says:

    Excision of abdominal wall abscess

    Description states:

As ellipse of skin was incised containing the central necrotic area and then cautery was used to dissect down through the subcutaneous tissue excising the entire cyst. There was purulence within this abscess that was cultured. Hemostasis was achieved with cautery. Then wound was pack.

Path Report states: Subcutaneous adipose tissue with severe acute/chronic inflamamation and abscess formation extendig into lower dermis.

    What code is this:

    11403, 22903 ?

What is best website to get back up information for code.

  2. Default
I would go with the 22903 as long as the dr documented it was 3cm or greater. The 11403is not extensive enough.
