i have the article by JustCoding regarding CMS 3 days payment rule. However, it seems to be driven more towards outpatient facilities such as a Hospital's physical therapy facility, which is outpatient, then regular office visits. Would this apply to regular office visits? If the patient was seen by the pcp with chest pain, atrial fibrillation, etc. and the patient 2 days later gets admitted for congestive heart failure, systolic heart failure, etc... does this mean the office visit would be considered part of the inpatient services and therefore, no payment will be made to the pcp simply because this patient falls under that 3 day rule? Say it isn't so.. sam..
