Could this be a procedure code used in hospital billing? I do not bill/code for a hospital but I do know there is a separate set of codes when procedures are done in a hospital setting. Maybe someone else can explain it better....

  3. Default 47.01
If it is a hospital procedure code it would be for Laparoscopic appendectomy. (I have the hospital edition of the ICD-9)

At first I thought maybe it was a V code, but that doesn't fit either. I would ask the doctor if I were you. Maybe he/she made a mistake if you are SURE that it is a Dx code. There is no 470.1 either, so I'm going with mistake.

  4. Default Looks Like Vol 3
Looks like a hospital Volume 3 code. I use them daily in my coding of outpatient radiology tests since we bill under a hospital. The Volume 3 codes are 2 digits, dot, and two more digits.

Volume 3 codes are used for hospital inpatient procedures only. Why do you use them for outpatient radiology? You should use CPT codes for outpatient.
