Thread: Is this Sepsis?

    Default Is this Sepsis?

    AAPC: Back to School
    as per LAB blood showed "gram positive cocci in pairs chains in blood.
    is this sepsis?

    Default sepsis

    This must be diagnosed by a physician.

    Yes it must be a physician diagnosis. Sepsis is a systemic disease due to an infection (SIRS due to an infection) (995.91 or 995.92) which are secondary only dx codes and must have the organism identified by the physician and then listed first.
