What modifier is appropriate to use when a patient is still in the global from surgery and then has to have a different surgery not related to the first surgery by a different specialty physician?

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would use Modifier 79 for surgical procedures unrelated to the reason for the global period

If it's a differen surgeon of a different specialty, you should not need any modifier.

  4. Default modifier 79
that is correct, you can use 79 if the same provider is performing the second surgery, but if different provider in a different specialty will not need a modifier.
