Payer/Clearing house question

We are currently using a clearing house vendor that has required that we use their specific payer ID#s (different than the payer ID#s that are listed on the patient's cards)when submitting our claims data to them.

This seems like a hassle especially if we decide to change vendors, then we will have to change all the payer ID#s in our system again.

Does anyone else have this same issue with their clearing house?

Anyone have any suggestions on a good vendor to send claims?

I have heard of this before however the 5010 which is mandatory Jan 1 2012, requires the payer ID be the providers.
