Gastritis and Gastrointestinal Bleeding

  1. Default Gastritis and Gastrointestinal Bleeding
    Medical Coding Books
Dx documented is Gastritis(535.50) and Gastrointestinal bleeding(578.9)
Do we have to take a combination code 535.51? Kindly clarify

  2. #2
The gastrointestinal bleeding is the mention of hemorrhage, so therefore you must only use 535.51 to code Gastritis with mention of hemorrhage.
