Default Billing for Outpatient Professional Component Only

    AAPC: Back to School
When billing for the professional component for outpatient services, is an rx required? Meaning, can a billing company "code blindly" and bill just for the PC from the report?

The entity performing the technical component is required to have the referral or rx. The professional component is billed with the dx code from the technical entity.
