Default Appeals worked by Coder or by Billing staff

Wanted to see how many of you out there have coding staff that work their appeals vs having a billing staff with limited coding knowlege working them.

    Default appeals/denials

I'm a CPC and I work all denials/appeals for a billing company, I'm not actually doing the coding for the denials/appeals in question but working denials for doctors who are doing there own coding.

Generally, all appeals are worked by coders.

all our denials and appeals are worked by our billing department, which i find to be a problem with timely filing issues, only because they are put on a spreadsheet and then sent to the supervisor of the department and she has to advise them if they should appeal or not. that takes time away from the supervisory position. i am use to working denials as soon as i get them along with appeals

Denials are worked by the coders in my organization and the info passed on to the billers to actually do the paperwork.
