Help with 99239

    Medical Coding Books
    I was wondering if anyone can help me with 99239. I billed

    99220-25 3/21
    59025-26 3/21
    99239 3/22
    59025-26 3/22

    Do I need a modifier for the 99239???? Insurance paid all but the 99239, why???
    Thanks for anyone's help.

    It appears as if this patient was observation. 99239 is for inpatient status. You would use 99217 for discharge of a patient in observation.
