I would think that global periods would apply the same way but I am wanting to make sure before I tell the office they have to write off a visit.

We had a patient come in for an ankle injury and the E/M for the day as well as the procedures associated with the ankle were taken care of on that date of service, same day as the date of injury.

The patient came in for a follow up 6 weeks later and the office charged for another E/M follow up on the visit.

My thoughts were that you are unable to bill the insurance company for the follow up because that would be included in the first visit associated with the injury.

If someone could help me with this I would be very grateful.
