    Question Verbage special stains

    AAPC: Back to School
Microscopic description on surgical pathology report states: "a battery of special stains show that the malignancy is negative for epithelial markers cdx2, cytokeratin 7, cytokeratin 20, and ema. Controls are appropriate. The stain for cea in non-contributory. With appropriate controls the stain for ttf1 stains the cytoplasmand the stain for hepatocytes is strongly positive. Code 88342 x 7 was used...is this correct?

If the CEA is non-contributory, it is not medically necessary to arrive at the dx. I only see 88342 x6 based on that consideration.
