Hey Everyone,

I am wondering if any one can help me on coding frozen sections.. Do i just use the excision of a maliglant lesion?? I just want to make sure i am not missing anything...
Thank you

The patient is a 77-year-old male with an extensive
lesion of the nose which he relates to trauma approximately 6 months

DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE: The patient was prepped and draped in the
usual manner under general anesthesia. The surgical area was
infiltrated with 1% lidocaine with adrenaline 1:100,000. The lesion
was excised following the lines of direction. The initial specific
gravity included external skin, cartilage and vestibular skin of the
nasal tip, columella, right and left nasal ala, and extending on to
the dorsum. Adequate hemostasis was obtained. Frozen section
revealed basal cell carcinoma with the right ala margin involved. A
second section was taken in this area until the margins were clean of
tumor. The wound was irrigated with copious amounts of normal
saline. Adequate hemostasis was obtained. Cheek and nasal flaps
were then elevated and septal flaps were elevated. All flaps were
then advanced and sutured in place with interrupted 3-0 and 4-0
Prolene and 4-0 chromic gut sutures, closing the wounds. A Xeroform
bulky sterile dressing was placed.

The patient tolerated the procedure well and left the operating room
in good condition.
