I am curious as to what the point of the G9 modifier for MAC cases is.
I understand G8, G8 tells you that its deep and complex and THAT is why anesthesia was needed (so no secondary dx is necessary).
But if you HAVE to have a supporting 2ndary dx ANYWAY, then what is the point of putting on the G9?
G9 tells them they have a severe cardiopulmonary disorder...okay but if you use G9 you HAVE to provide the dx of the cardiopulmonary disorder to back it up.
Well just putting the heart/lung dx WITHOUT the G9 would tell them they have a heart/lung disorder..
SO WHY THE G9 IF I HAVE TO HAVE A SECONDARY ANYWAY??
I hope this question makes since.
