For all of the CPC's that are working with E/M's - how did you get your abstracting knowledge? I was never taught abstracting and really had no idea about it and was declined a job b/c of it - how can I get up to speed on it?!

Default Practice with an audit tool
Get an audit tool (or two .. one each for 1995 and 1997) and practice, Practice, PRACTICE.

Best way to learn is by doing it. You might want to try

    Hope that helps.

I'd have to agree with Tessa on this one, the only way to truly learn it is to practice. If you don't currently do this type of work, I'd suggest doing it on your own time as well. I too utilize E/M University and get the "case of the week" every week, just did this weeks today on my lunch break.

Dr. Jensen has alot of good beginner info on his site as well so please, check it out.

I think you'll enjoy it too!
