  7. Question Cpt 36592
    Some input would be greatly appreciated on this and any citations as well. Would the folllowing be appripriate in a ED setting?

    CPT 36592 - Collection of blood specimen using established central or peripheral catheter, venous, not otherwise specified

    The nursing staff inserts a saline lock in the emergency department and draw blood from the lock for diagnostic purposes. Is this considered an established catheter being it was just placed?
