need help in coding multiple operative procedures - 78 year old patient had the following surgical findings: pelvic abscess made up of small bowel into the retrouterine position. Within the abscess is perforated appendicitis with a perforation at the base of the appendix at the cecal wall - operative procedures include exploratory laparatomy with drainage of pelvic abscess, appendectomy and relief of small bowel obstruction. How could this be coded? Thanks!

  2. Default
Please post the entire operative report.

I agree - please post op note. However, from the sounds of it, I'm going with 44960 appendectomy for ruptured appendix with abscess.
