I have a question regarding manifestation coding for Diabetes Mellitus. Specifically, are the only codes that apply to a given subheading (Diabetes with neurological manifestations, with renal manifestations, etc.) the ones listed there?

My specific problem is whether to use 250.00, or 250.60, when the patient has paresthesias (782.0) and diabetes as the indication for their test. The provider found no evidence of any disorder during the test.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

does the provider document paresthias due to diabeties or paeathesias with diabetes or diabetic paresthesias? If not hen you do not have a diabetes with manifestation scenario and you would use the 250.00 and the 782.0, if he does then document it then exactly how is it stated?

He did not specifically document a cause and effect relationship. If he did, would 250.60 still be appropriate, despite 782.0 not being listed under the manifestation codes there?
