    Default Mass Removal Help coding

    AAPC: Back to School
    I'm looking for guidance.
The physician identifies a groin mass and removes by making an incision but doesn't make an incision including margins. He sliced along the groin line and removed what was underneath the skin in pieces. How do you go about coding this? He estimates the mass under the skin was a 1x2 cm, but was not excised as a 1x2 it was removed in pieces and no skin involved and no margins involved. How do I code this properly?

Does he specify depth, it sounds to me as if you may want to look at the excision codes in the musculoskeletal section of the cpt
