20610 and POS

  1. Default 20610 and POS
    Medical Coding Books
One of my doctors performed bilateral knee injections for an inpatient at our local hospital. The insurance company is denying the claims stating the POS does not meet policy requirements for this procedure code per LCD or NCD, CMS ID(s) L25820. I don't remember having trouble with this issue before so just not sure if it's this particular plan or across the board. Any help?

  3. Default
20610 is an out patient procedure only unless it is done in the OR with a manipulation of knee. It is on the CMS website.
