Is it Fracture Care

  1. Default Is it Fracture Care
    Medical Coding Books
Pt was seen in ER 1 wk prior and dx w/ clavicle Fx, but no fracture care charged, just e/m. Pt seen our Ortho PA and he evaluated and had xrays done. The plan stated "Patient will continue to use the figure of eight strap and sling interchangeably as needed for patient's comfort. Patient will do pendulum exercises daily. She can use the arm as tolerated based on the patient's pain she will continue to take the Ibuprofen if needed for the pain. She states she is not having much at all at this time other than when she moves it."

Can I code the fracture care w/out manipulation for this?

Yes you can code fracture care but one question is-what did they state for follow up? PRN? 2 weeks? I would say if the pt was told to return PRN I would not charge fracture care since that holds them to a 90 day global. Hope that makes sense.
