Complication during surgery

    Default Complication during surgery
    Medical Coding Books
    A complication occurred during surgery and the final disposition on the op report was "patient will remain in the Recovery Room for further observation" on oxygen. The procedure was completed. Can this be coded even though the final disposition of the patient is unknown?

    absolutely, the planned procedure was completed in the operating room.
