    Default UTI/Sepsis

When the diagnosis documented are 599.0 (UTI) and 995.91 (sepsis), do we need to code both the diagnosis or either of them as per coding guidelines.
    Need advice.

    Thanks,
    Shruthi.

read the guidelines for sepsis with a local infection, You must code the organism first, then the sepsis, then the local infection.
IF documentation states this is sepsis with a UTI but no organism is documented then the guidelines tell you to code
    038.9, 995.91, 599.0 In that order.
