There's also a code if the pt. is under age 5 (36568). You can also use 77001 if fluoroscopic guidance was used and 76937 if US guidance was used and if a permanent image of the US was recorded and saved.

    Default PICC line insertion

On this topic, can you bill for an unsuccessful PICC line insertion?

    Hello All,
How about the chest x-ray if it is done with PICC. do we code separately? CCI edit says you can but you have to add modifier -59 to chest x-ray but we are not getting paid for the chest x-ray only payment is for code 36556.
If we do not get paid, what is the point to add modifier -59 to chest x-ray code.
    Thanks,
    This is for facility charges.

How about if the physician owns the ultrasound equipment and performs PICC lines in long term care facilities?

    Question diagnosis code

There is a debate in our office over the diagnosis code for a PICC line placement and a VAD placement. Would they both be coded as a V58.81??
