    Question Cataract coding with implant????
    Medical Coding Books
    Hello all,
Would you code "Phacoemulsification of cataract, left eye/posterior chamber implant" as 66984?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Yes.
However, depending on the full description of how the procedure was perfomed, your code choice may be 66982.

    Thanks very much.
Dr billed for 76519 (A-scan), where documentation says "Phacoemulsification of cataract, left eye/posterior chamber implant".

    Thanks again,

The doctor may have used that procedure (CPT 76519) to determine the correct power of the Intraocular Lens to be placed during the Cataract surgery.

I have another one with "Anterior vitrectomy" and "Lateral canthotomy" done on the same date of service with "Phacoemulsification of cataract, left eye/posterior chamber implant".
Does anyone know if "Vitrectomy" and "Canthotomy" are included in 66984, or reported separetely?
    Thanks, in advance.

I already got the answer of my own question.
"Canthotomy" is included in 66984 and "Anterior Vitrectomy" needs to be coded as 67005 with modifiers 51 and LT.
